Since I last wrote news for the website, several things have happened. The main thing is, my husband's health has taken a turn for the worse, and what that means is that I'm not travelling away from Cambridge at the moment, so won't be able to accept bookings from schools, libraries etc for the time being.
I had to cancel my judging of the Lancashire Children's Book Award. My place was very ably taken by Helen Day of the University of Central Lancashire and the winner was TORN by David Massey. A review by me of this book appears under the WHAT I'M READING link.
I also couldn't appear at the Felixstowe festival. Barbara Erskine stood in for me and I'm sure everyone had a wonderful time. I hope to be invited back to Felixstowe another year.
The Kids' Book Quiz at Bishop Stortford was good fun and it was great to meet the other writers involved: Pauline Francis, Gill Lewis and Chris Priestley who kindly gave me a lift there and back.
I spoke at the Books Mastermind at the Perse School, too and it was a lovely occasion. Awesome knowledge from the young contestants and delicious chocolate doughnuts in the interval. What more can you ask for?
I'm about to do the final edits on my forthcoming novel COVER YOUR EYES, but before then, two of my backlist adult novels: FACING THE LIGHT and MADE IN HEAVEN are appearing from Quercus as ebooks on July 18th. I will put up a link to them when they become available. My other two backlist adult novels, A HIDDEN LIFE and HESTER'S STORY will come out as ebooks in October.
My children's book, THE FANTORA FAMILY FILES is coming from OUP in the Treetops series of educational books in the autumn. More details when I have them.
My early reader STUCK! is coming from Collins in the autumn as well...again, more details when I know them.
Meanwhile, enjoy the summer. It's very sunny as I write so I hope it continues that way till September.
